Great Race, Great Cause: Racing For Home
June 4, 2018, 12:00 am

Saturday is going to be a really big day in Leelanau County. The M22 Challenge is back, putting athletes into the hurt locker as they dash up the Sleeping Bear Dunes, ride around Big Glen Lake, and then paddle as well in the ultimate Up North triathlon.

But there's also a little something special on offer for Sunday, June 10. For the first year, Racing For Home offers mountain bikers a World Cup-style course that winds through the rolling hills of Forty Five North Vineyard and Winery, just a few miles out of Suttons Bay. The short laps are perfect for spectating, with singletrack sections, punchy climbs, and some wide-open trail offering a fun mix for riders of all abilities.

But there's more to it than just a great event. The race is all about raising money for Habitat for Humanity's local Grand Traverse Region chapter. The organization works to provide housing for families in needs, utilizing sustainable building methods and materials, volunteers workers, and revitalizing neighborhoods all over Northern Michigan. The organization depends on donations to run, and Racing For Home's entry fees will go towards this worthy mission.

Sunday will be a full day of action, with different categories in action from morning until the main event; at 1:30pm, Norte Youth Cycling is hosting a FREE kid's race that's sure to be the most exciting part of the day!

Registration for Racing for Home is open right here.
